XANDROS SERVER TO USE BRU NETWORK BACKUP FROM TOLIS GROUP
Xandros
Server, utilizing BRU™ and other leadership tools, delivers a long
sought-after Linux alternative to the Windows™ lock on the SMB space
NEW YORK, NY & SCOTTSDALE, Arizona – April 12, 2006 – Xandros,
the leading provider of easy-to-use Linux alternatives to Windows, and
TOLIS Group, Inc., developer of the ultra-reliable BRU™ brand of data
backup and restore solutions, today announced an agreement to integrate
a complete BRU backup and recovery system into the forthcoming Xandros
Server – the first truly viable alternative to the dominance of
Microsoft® Windows servers in the SMB (small-to-medium business) and
departmental markets.
“We are excited that BRU Server is
to be included in the initial release of Xandros Server and know that
the combination of easy management and reliable backup will provide
peace-of-mind for small-to-medium business system administrators
utilizing Xandros Server,” said Tim Jones, President/CTO of TOLIS
Group. “The power of Xandros Server, with its plug-in technology in the
Xandros Management Console (xMC), is set to revolutionize the SMB
server space.”
"We are taking Linux servers where they have
never gone before, into enterprise departments and SMBs, and it was
essential to be the first Linux Server to provide a reliable backup and
recovery system for administrators with little or no Linux server
experience," said Andreas Typaldos, Xandros CEO. “The BRU solutions
from TOLIS have a long history of ultra-reliability. Now, with our
combined Xandros-TOLIS solution, the administrator does not even have
to figure out what system configuration or data files need to be backed
up for various server services. This task is taken care of by the
workflow automation built into Xandros Server, together with BRU’s xMC
management plug-in.”
The Xandros Server, to be launched at
LinuxWorld Toronto, provides an easy-to-use alternative to costly
Windows servers that addresses the issues normally encountered when
administering SMB-class systems. Its integrated suite of services
enables failsafe, centralized remote administration, workflow
automation, and consolidated system monitoring, together with drop-in
compatibility with existing domains and networks.
The BRU
Server component of Xandros Server delivers unparalleled network backup
and restore capabilities, not just for Xandros Server, but for Windows,
Mac OS X, and Linux clients as well. BRU was the first non-development
end-user application available for Linux users in 1994 (kernel
0.99pl12) and continues its data protection leadership across Linux
systems to this day.
